Transnational Forum and Study Tour of the 4Biomass project
On the 29th of October 2012 a Transnational Forum with the main title "Biomass for Central Europe: Which Strategies for a Limited Resource?" will take place in Ceremonial Hall of the Federal Agricultural Chamber, 1014 Vienna, Schauflergasse 6.
The purpose of the Transnational Forum is to discuss the subject of biomass as a source for renewable energy in Central Europe with respect to the outcomes of the project 4Biomass. The biomass potential to produce energy is remarkable in all the Central European countries, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. However, it is not unlimited.
A stakeholder-review, carried out within the frame of the project, resulted in the recommendation to foster the establishment of the heat-market. How is this strategy to be seen with respect to sustainability-criteria and resource-availability?
In the afternoon session, four experts from different backgrounds will discuss different aspects for a sustainable supply of bioenergy. Heinz Kopetz, President of the World Bioenergy Associations, and Uwe Fritsche, Scientific Director of IINAS (International Institute for Sustainability), will speak about sustainable bioenergy from a global perspective. Kasimir Nemestothy, Austrian Chamber of Agriculture, will talk about the Austrian experience and Walter Suntinger, Human Rights Consultant, will contribute his experiences from a Human Rights approach.
The registration had to be closed due to reaching the capacity limit of the room. Applicants should directly contact Johannes.firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss further possible steps.
